Kimetic is in beta. This policy may be updated after legal review and before public release; we'll note changes here and in the app.
The short version
- Kimetic keeps your data on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We don't run servers, and we don't receive your data.
- We don't sell your data, don't show ads, and don't track you across apps or websites.
- Heart rate is used only to show your zone during a workout and to score your effort.
- You can delete everything by deleting the app. Workouts saved to Apple Health stay in Health, where you control them.
What Kimetic uses, and why
| Data | Where it comes from | What it's for | Where it's kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heart rate during a session's workout | Your Apple Watch, through Apple Health (HealthKit), with your permission | Showing your live heart rate and zone; working out time in each zone, which scores your effort and counts missed workout time | Read live on your Watch and sent to Kimetic on your own iPhone. The phone keeps a zone timeline (your zone every 5 seconds), not the raw readings |
| Workouts, with calories burned, distance, and an effort rating (1–10, from your zone time) | Created by Kimetic on your Watch (Apple's workout recorder measures calories and distance) | Saved to Apple Health so they count toward your Activity rings | Apple Health, on your devices |
| Birth year (optional; year only) | You, in onboarding or Settings | Estimating your maximum heart rate (220 − age) for the zones | On your iPhone; sent to Kimetic on your own Watch during a workout |
| Session history: date, level, workout chosen, the items on the tray and the ones you picked, recall time, score breakdown, zone timeline | Created as you play | History, personal bests, your streak | On your iPhone |
| Settings: workout preferences, onboarding progress, the session in progress (so it can resume if the app closes) | Created as you use the app | Making the app work the way you set it | On your iPhone |
| Health & safety notice acknowledgment: the date you tapped "I understand" and which version of the notice | You, in onboarding | Recording that you saw the notice | On your iPhone |
| Screen-capture flag | Detected on your iPhone if a screenshot or screen recording happens while the memory tray is showing | Fair play: flagged sessions don't count for personal bests or rankings | On your iPhone, with that session |
Kimetic has no accounts, and collects no name, email, location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. It contains no analytics or advertising code.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
- Kimetic asks for permission to read heart rate, and to save workouts with their calories, distance, and effort rating (and read those back). You can change the effort rating in the Fitness app. You choose what to allow in Apple's permission screen, and you can change it any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Kimetic on your iPhone.
- Health data is used only for Kimetic's fitness features described above. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties.
- Kimetic doesn't use iCloud: its own data, including the zone timelines derived from heart rate, isn't synced anywhere. (Developer note: if iCloud sync is ever added, update this section.)
Sharing
- Kimetic shares nothing on its own. If you tap Share, Kimetic makes an image of your score card (score, level, workout and any missed time, items correct, recall time, effort points). You choose where it goes, through Apple's share sheet. It doesn't include the tray items, your heart rate, or your birth year.
Diagnostics
- To help fix problems, Kimetic keeps a short log of what the app did and when (for example "Watch workout started", "recall started", error messages), with the app and system versions. It never includes heart-rate readings, zone times, your birth year, nicknames, or the memory tray.
- The log stays on your devices (the Watch passes its log to your iPhone after each workout) and keeps only the most recent events.
- It's sent to us only if you choose: Settings → Send diagnostics creates a text file and opens the share sheet, so you decide whether and where to send it. Delete all my data doesn't erase it; deleting the app does.
Storage, security, and backups
- Your data stays on your devices, protected by their passcode and Apple's encryption.
- If you back up your iPhone (iCloud or computer), Kimetic's data is part of that backup, under Apple's terms and your settings.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Kimetic keeps your history until you delete it.
- Settings → Delete all my data erases your session history, personal bests, streak, birth year, preferences, and safety-notice acknowledgment from your iPhone. You hold a button and then confirm, so it can't happen by accident. Kimetic then starts over as if newly installed.
- Deleting the app also removes all of Kimetic's data from your iPhone and Watch.
- Workouts Kimetic saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health or Fitness app.
Children
Kimetic is meant for people 13 and older and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect children's data; in fact Kimetic sends no one's data off the device.
Your rights
Because we don't receive or hold your data, there's nothing for us to look up, export, or delete on a server. Everything is on your devices and under your control. For questions, email support@kimetic.app.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date and, for important changes (for example when leaderboards arrive), tell you in the app before they take effect.
